Fred Lynn Obituary

 

Fred C. “Patch” Lynn, 89 of Smithton, passed away peacefully, early Sunday Morning, December 9, 2018 in RNC of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg.

He was born on July 13, 1929 in Smithton, son of the late George A. and Mary Myers Lynn.

Fred was a Member of the Grandview Church of God, Smithton where he was an Honorary Lifetime Elder.

Fred was employed at the Beaumont Stone Quarry, U.S. Steel Christy Park and retired from Fox Grocery (Wetterau), now SuperValue with 34 years of service as a truck driver.

He was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves and the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sargent.

Fred was a member of the teamsters Local 491, Uniontown. Also he was a member of the James Cochran Lodge, No. 614 Free and Accepted Masons, at the Pleasant Valley Masonic Center, Connellsville.

In his spare time, he was an avid guitar and mandolin player and was a member of The Country Drifters Band, The Old Time Fiddlers Association, Dunbar and Irish Town. He played at the Brownfield Community Center and for square dances at the Alwine Civic Center, Delmont. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and cutting firewood.

Fred is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him,

His Loving wife of 63 years, Hazel Marie Keffer Lynn (April 8, 2014)

Two Sisters: Beatrice Binkley and Pearl Crilley

Three Brothers: Jesse, George and Charles Lynn

Family and Friends are cordially invited to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Wednesday from 2 -4 PM and 6 – 8PM.

Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 9:45AM – 11AM at which time his Funeral Service will begin, with Adam Huff, Pastor, Officiating, of the Grandview Church of God, Smithton.

Private Committal and Interment will immediately follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, South Huntingdon Twp.

Full Military Honors will be accorded at the Funeral Home, Wednesday at 6:30 PM by the Southmoreland Veterans Association, Honor Guard.

A Masonic Service will be held Wednesday at 7:30PM in the Funeral Home, by the James Cochran Lodge #614

In Lieu of Flowers, those who wish to remember Fred in a special way, may make gifts in his name, Fred C. Lynn, to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 1645 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.

 Due to Circumstances, the Funeral Home doors will be closed between hours.
