Edwin C. Sommers

Edwin C. Sommers, 63, of Scottdale, peacefully passed away, Friday afternoon, January 19, 2018, in the comfort of his home, while in the presence of his loving family.
He was born October 13, 1954, in Niagara Falls, NY., a son of the late Edwin J. and Arlene M. Haines Sommers.
Edwin was a graduate of Connellsville High School, Class of 1974.
After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army,
Following his discharge from the Military, Edwin was employed as a custodian for the Connellsville Area School District, with 35 years of service.  He was also employed as a school police officer for the Connellsville School District and part time Officer for the Southmoreland School District.
Edwin enjoyed bowling and playing darts in his spare time.
He was a longtime member of the Connellsville Elks and Moose, as well as the Scottdale Moose and Elks Lodge #777.
Edwin is gone from our lives but will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
His wife of 9 years, Mary G. Cunningham Sommers, whom he married, December 29, 2008.
His children:
Brian Sommers and wife Justine, of Port St. Louie, FL.
Christine Sommers  
And Kelly Ann Sommers and Fiancé Aaron Fazenbaker , all of Connellsville
His Step Daughters:
Whitney Clark and husband Robert, of Lemont Furnace
And Ashley Nicholson and husband Timothy of Ruffsdale
His Grandchildren:
Julia Durst,
Chloe Sommers,
Mia Swank,
Mackenzie Nicholson,
Peyton Fazenbaker,
Zoe Connors,
And Bailey Clark.
His three Sisters:
Sharon Nicholson and husband Henry, of Connellsville
Deborah Kinneer and husband Gerald, of Champion
And Donna Baird and Fiancé Rob Vandell, of Farmington
And his loving Dog, Miley.
Edwins family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh Street. Scottdale, Monday from 2-4P.M. and 6-8P.M. at which time his Funeral Service will begin at 8 PM,  with Pastor Lee Maley, Officiating.
Members of the Scottdale Elks, Lodge #777 will conduct a Memorial Service at 7 PM Monday in the Funeral Home.
