Covert Hribal Obituary

COVERT J. “COBY” HRIBAL of Scottdale, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, February 15, 2014, at his residence.
Coby was born in Charleston, W.VA a son of the late Charles and Emily Rehanek Hribal.
He was a longtime and faithful member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale and the Church Usher Society.
Coby was a retired Crane Operator with USX Irvin Works, with 30 years’ service.  He was a member of the Scottdale V.F.W., Post 7781, where he held the position of former Surgeon and was very active with the Southmoreland Veterans Association, Military Funeral Honor Guard.  He was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 0446.  He was the former Vice President, Trustee and Auditor of the Polish American Club of Everson.
He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, as a Seabee with the 37th and 36th Battalions attaining the rank of Seaman.  He participated in the invasion of Okinawa and was the recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Star, the American Theater and Victor y Medals.
Coby’s memories will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved, his wife of 62 years, Helen Lilliock Hribal, whom he married May 22, 1951.

And Sophia Hribal
A Brother: Harold B. Hribal and wife Retha of Mt. Pleasant
In addition to his parents, Coby was predeceased by:
A Brother: Charles Hribal, Jr.
A Sister: Rosella Zaucha
And a Grandson, Tyler Hillegas (October 1, 2007)
Coby’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM.
A Panachida Service will be held Tuesday at 3:30 PM in the Funeral Home
A Parastas Service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 AM in the Funeral Home.  The Divine Liturgy of The Dead will be intoned at 10 AM in St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale, with his Pastor,  The Very Rev. John H. Salko, as Celebrant.
Committal Service and Interment will follow in St. John Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, with full Military Honors accorded at the gravesite by the Southmoreland Veterans Association.
