Barbara C. Cavanaugh Malik, 74, of Scottdale, died unexpectedly, Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2009 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg.
She was born March 11, 1935 in Oil City a daughter of the late Sheridan and Isabelle Thomas Cavanaugh.
Barb was longtime member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale
She was a member of the Scottdale Garden Club and for many years enjoyed working the Christmas Store in the Scottdale Bank and Trust. During the Vietnam War she was very involved in organizations trying to free the Prisoners Of War and finding those Missing In Action.
Barb was one of the original founders and helped to erect the Scottdale Gazebo.
Barbara was employed as a Nurse's Aide for Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant for many years and was involved educating those interested in the Medic Alert call button for the elderly.
Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all she knew.
Barbara 's Memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family, her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Robert G. Malik, whom she married May 21, 1954.

Brody A. Ward of Scottdale

Barb's family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 W. Pittsburgh St. Scottdale Monday from 1 – 4 & 6 – 9PM.
Parting Prayers will be recited in the Funeral Home Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in the Church Of St. John The Baptist, Scottdale, with herPastor, Rev. E. George Saletrik, as Celebrant.
Committal Services and Interment will follow in the Scottdale Cemetery.
St. John's Ministry of Consolation will conduct a Prayer Service at 2 PM Monday in the Funeral Home.
