Marvin Branthoover Obituary

Marvin "Doc" Branthoover, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in Independence Health System, Latrobe Hospital, PA. Born on July 31, 1937, in Smithton, PA, Marvin’s life was a testament to service, family, and community. His loving wife, Shirley I. Moore Branthoover, sons Marvin "Bud" G. Branthoover and his wife Donna of Alverton, Kevin L. Branthoover and his wife Ellen of Bullskin Twp., Randy S. Branthoover and his wife Karen of Scottdale, along with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, survive him and will forever hold his memory dear. Marvin, fondly known by many as "Doc," attended South Huntingdon High School. He was employed by Pepsi Cola as a Professional Truck Driver with 42 years of service. His commitment to service was further exemplified through his tenure as a veteran of the National Guard and his years as an Emergency Medical Technician, where he touched countless lives with his expertise and compassion. In addition to his professional endeavors, Doc was a pillar of his community, with his longtime membership with Central Bethel Church Of God, Alverton. Since 1978, he was an active member of the East Huntingdon Fire Department. Within the fire company, he served not only as a trustee but also as a First Aid Captain. His sense of civic duty extended to various organizations, including his membership in the Elks, B.P.O.E. #777, in Scottdale, the Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Post #446 and his past involvement with the Ridge Runners Club and East Huntingdon Sportsman’s Club. Those who knew Marvin would describe him as loving, passionate, and friendly—a man whose warmth and kindness radiated and drew people to him. Marvin leaves behind a legacy of love and service through his family, who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his children and their spouses, his cherished grandchildren, Richard Branthoover, Chad Branthoover and his wife Melissa, Todd Branthoover and his wife Amber, Megan Hough and her husband Rich, Ashley Branthoover, and Nick Branthoover. His great-grandchildren, Sarah, Caitlin, Benjamin, Josiah, Abigail, Dylan, Logan, Coraline, and Alexander. Marvin “Doc” Branthoover lived a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be a devoted family man, a steadfast friend, and a committed servant to his community. Family and Friends of Marvin are cordially invited to the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME, INC., 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 2 – 4PM & 6- 8PM. Additional viewing will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM in the Funeral Home with his Pastor, Lee Kline and Pastor Jason Kramer, officiating. Committal Services and Interment will follow in Alverton Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded at the graveside, by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Post #446, Honor Guard. The Funeral Home doors will be locked in between viewing hours. Members of the East Huntingdon Volunteer Fire Dept will hold a Memorial Service on Thursday at 7:00PM in the Funeral Home.
