Della Cole Obituary

Della E. Cole, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 89 in Independence Health System Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born on February 21, 1935, in Cambria Co., Della was the daughter of the late Lewis Grant and Anna Sherman Miller. A proud graduate of the PA School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh in 1954, Della found her passion early as a talented seamstress in Scottdale. Her creativity didn't stop at her profession; she generously provided supplies for arts and crafts to the deaf community, contributing to the TTY services for the deaf. Crocheting and knitting were among her favorite activities, and she took great joy in gifting her creations to family and friends. Della was a devoted partner in life and worked with her late husband, Franklin M. Cole, who passed on June 21, 2019. Together, they ran the Coleland Dairy Farm, where Della would assist with milking cows. Her legacy of love and caring is carried on by her children: Emmett L. Cole and wife Kathleen of Connellsville, Candy S. Sefchik and husband Jeffrey of Alverton, with whom she resided, James R. Cole and wife Mariya of Brookville, and Timothy L. Cole and Edith of Mt. Pleasant. She was the adored matriarch to her grandchildren: Benjamin Byriel, Regina Arbogast and husband Philip, Robert Cole and wife Jennifer, Jennifer Thorne and husband Michael, Jacob Sefchik and Emily Brooks, Elizabeth Chestnutt, Stewart Chestnutt, Cameron Glenn, Nicholas Cole, and Preston Cole. Her great-grandchildren Natalie, Katelyn, Alex, Preston, and Adaleigh. Della's memory will also be treasured by her siblings, Louise Overdorff of Indiana, Pa., and Rodger "Butch" Miller of Sidman, Pa., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who all felt the touch of her loving nature. She was preceded in death by her siblings Violet Cummings, Tilly Cassidy, Junior Miller, Dolly Reighard, Lawrence "Buddy" Miller, Dean Miller, Donna Ohler, and June Gallagher. Known affectionately as the "weather girl" by her family, Della's cheerful personality was as reliable as her weather updates. An avid Steelers and Penguins fan, she could be found watching all the games. Della’s family will greet friends Friday, April 5, 2024 from 2 -4PM & 6 -8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683.
