Bruce E. Parfitt

Bruce E. Parfitt, 71, a cherished family man, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, in Independence Health System, Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born on February 16, 1953, also in Mt. Pleasant. He was the son of the late Clyde and Ruby Suter Parfitt. A proud graduate of the Connellsville High School Class of 1971, Bruce dedicated 30 years of his life as a Logistics Supervisor for Westinghouse Corp of Madison, Pa., where his hardworking and diligent nature was greatly valued. His professional achievements were only surpassed by his devotion to his family and his unwavering faith. Bruce was the loving father of Michael J. Sherbondy and his wife Laurel of Scottdale, Scott Allen Sherbondy and his wife Kristie Leigh of Alverton, Deanna Sherbondy and her fiancé Jason Guttilla of Ruffsdale, and Jason E. Sherbondy of Acme. He was an adored grandfather to Kaitlyn Elliot; Colin, Connor, and Cole Sherbondy; Margo Covalesky; O'Rion Saloom; Kenzie Hill; and Gavin Sherbondy. Bruce was also a great-grandfather to Mason, Ava, and Reese Elliot. Bruce's siblings will remember him fondly, including James Parfitt and his wife Joni of Clinton, TN; Karen Eggan and her husband Gary of NC; Marjorie Henry of Alverton; John Parfitt and his wife Tina of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Clyde (Ralph) Parfitt, Jr. and his wife Jane of Platteville, CO., Linda Huemme and husband William of Penn Hills.  His life was also enriched by several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Deborah Ann Szwed Parfitt, who passed away on March 18, 2020, and his sister, Barbara Miller. Bruce was a devoted life member of Pleasant Valley Community Church in Connellsville. An avid hunter, Bruce found solace and joy in the great outdoors. However, his greatest passion was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The moments shared during family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and simple everyday interactions were the times he treasured most. Additional Visitation will be held in on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10AM – 10:45 AM in the Pleasant Valley Community Church, 1129 Breakneck Road, Connellsville, PA where his Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Scott Martin, Officiating.
